We believe in preparing for a pet’s long flight overseas by reducing travel time in Sydney, both from your home and to the airport. By choosing us, you are choosing a private chauffeur for your pet in an air conditioned 4WD. We do not use delivery vans.
Choosing our Pet Fly service ensures a tailored, one on one experience for you and your pet. After all, your pet deserves to be transported by our vet.
Let’s talk. Tell us which flight you are planning on taking and we’ll let you know if we can get your pet on that flight.
Unfortunately, we do not transport short/snub nosed dogs and cats due to respiratory health concerns for these breeds on long haul flights. Breeds include, but are not limited to: Pugs, Boxers, Bulldogs, Persians.
All flights into and most flights out of Australia don’t allow pets to travel in the cabin, with the exception of service dogs.
In a special pressurized, temperature controlled area of the plane. Pets are better off here as they don’t have to contend with noisy passengers disturbing their rest.
We are in Blakehurst in Sydney’s south, not far from the airport. Here is our web address www.blakehurstvet.com.au.
Before you fly, your pet needs a final vet check and be well hydrated before the flight. Your pet also needs quarantine papers lodged in person. We take care of all of that.
We will need all these measurements before providing you with a quote.
Measure from the base of the tail to the tip of the nose (A)
Add half of the leg measure (B)
Measure width of shoulder (C)
and times by two
Measure height from floor to top of head (D)
Pussycats generally go in the one crate size, however, some larger cats need a slightly larger crate. Our vet will measure your cat at the initial consultation.
We want to make sure your pet is ready for boarding, so we arrange airline approved crates for you in the exact size required. Crates that are too small, low or narrow may compromise your pet’s health.
We supply comfortable, absorbent bedding for the flight. Most countries destroy this bedding on arrival to due to the quarantine risk.
We ensure a water container is fixed inside the crate, with an external funnel leading into the water container. The people handling your pooch or pussycat top-up the water from outside. The crate cannot be opened after it’s sealed by authorities in Sydney.
The more notice the better! We need to arrange for the relevant treatments, inspections and documentation to be completed. Some countries, for example, require a rabies vaccination to be given at least 30 days before the date of departure.
We do not sedate pooches or pussycats in case there is an adverse reaction during flight.
